Kitty was born on September 8th, 1950 to June and Michael Gross of Memphis, TN. After graduating from White Station High School in 1968, she attended college and went on to become a flight attendant for American Airlines and took to the skies. In 1972, she met the love of her life, David Hobbs. They were married in 1973 and raised two sons, David and Darren.
Kitty ran a successful calligraphy business in Nashville. She was sought after by many for her exquisite work, creative ideas, and her eye for detail. Kitty had a large circle of friends, with whom she loved to travel, volunteer, eat good food, and go on mini adventures. Kitty was an avid sports fan of the UT Lady Vols and the Atlanta Braves.
Kitty loved her family dearly—near and far. She spent her free time taking care of others and spoiling her 4 grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews, as much as possible. Doctor and dental appointments, parks, trains, amusement parks, jungle gyms, ice cream parlors, ballgames, shopping malls, the zoo, museums, and the theatre were a few of the places she frequented and could be found with one of her pride and joys.
Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, June and Mike Gross, and her brother, Scott Gross. She is survived by her husband, David Hobbs, sons, David, Jr. (Jill) Hobbs and Darren Hobbs, brothers, Mike (Maria) Gross and Steve (Susannah) Gross, and 4 grandchildren: David Hobbs, III, Kate Hobbs, Maddie Hobbs, Teddy Hobbs, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Temple Hills Country Club on Thursday, August 24th from 4-6pm.
