
Laetitia was preceded in death by her parents (Nicholas Arthur Wenning and Corinne Bandy Wenning) and her husband of 47 years, John Burke Hardin.
She is survived by her brother, Arthur Bandy Wenning, her three sons, John Burke Hardin Jr.(Kim), Jonathan Wenning Hardin(Cindy), and William Hardin Lyle Davis as well as her two grandchildren, John Burke Hardin III(Kaiti) and Taylor Sumner Hardin.
She was a lifelong resident of Nashville excepting some time away as a child in southern California and other locations as an Air Force wife and new mother.
Laetitia attended Woodmont Elementary School and Ward Belmont Girl’s Preparatory School. She then graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. While at Vanderbilt, she was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority where she began many lifelong friendships. Post-graduation, Laetitia became a math teacher at Cohn High School and later did the same at Harpeth Hall School for Girls.
Laetitia and her beloved husband, John, were members of the Belle Meade Country Club. She was a long time member of the Centennial Club where she occupied the office of Treasurer. Laetitia was a member of the congregation at West End Methodist Church and then First Presbyterian Church.
Laetitia lived a full life with a wealth of friends and worthwhile pursuits all with a mission of benefiting others. She loved entertaining and putting smiles on others’ faces; forever able to laugh at herself. She was an avid tennis player in her younger years and enjoyed regular bridge games and lunches with friends. Laetitia was always energetic, active, and fit. She was a big fan of the great outdoors and its ever changing wonders through four seasons. She had a soft spot in her heart for all animals. Her support for and kindness towards them was indicative of her empathetic nature.
By far the greatest joy in Laetitia’s life was her family, she thought first of and sacrificed without limit for them in a truly selfless fashion. She provided great guidance demonstrating and sharing the qualities of grace, strength, kindness, empathy, forgiveness, humility, and civility that she most valued. Laetitia’s positivity was indomitable. She remained good spirited as old age took hold enjoying time with family and friends reflecting on fond memories with a smile and a laugh. Laetitia’s life was filled with love and light. One devoted to others through good works and infinite kindness. She will be long remembered and greatly missed. May she rest in peace.
Services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024, with a visitation at 2:00, in the Cheek House at First Presbyterian Church. Services will begin at 3:00, with a private inurnment to follow at First Presbyterian Church.
