

He was born on November 24, 1946 in Fayetteville, TN to Charlie Frank and Morelle Lee Eley. He was a 1968 graduate of University of Tennessee-Knoxville with a degree in Business Administration. Larry began his career in Nashville, TN. He was a trust officer at First American Bank and later became an investment broker at Shearson-Lehman Brothers. He was currently Vice President-Investments for the Paducah, Kentucky office of Wells Fargo Advisers, LLC.
Through the years he was a member of the Marshall County Rotary Club, Lions Club and served on the board of the Lloyd Tilghman House Museum. Over the years he coached several girls softball teams and was especially proud of both of his daughters who pitched on state championship teams for David Lipscomb High School.
In recent years he enjoyed reading his collection of Civil War history books and visiting Civil War battlefields. But most of all he enjoyed being “Boppy” to his granddaughter, Olivia.
Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gale Fish Eley; two daughters, Jennifer Fitzpatrick and Claire Eley both of Paducah; a granddaughter, Olivia Eley of Paducah; his mother, Morelle Lee Eley of Fayetteville, TN; mother-in-law, Agnes Perdue of Tompkinsville, KY; sister-in-law, Dr. Vicky (Jim) Sherman of Tucson, AZ; aunts, Carolyn Cashion and Kathleen Lee both of Winchester, TN, Athalene (Glen) Crowe of Tompkinsville, KY, and Donnie (Cleo) Howard of Beech Grove, IN; and five nieces and nephews, Brayden, Drake, Vaughn, Deidra and Michael Vo Sherman all of Tucson, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Frank Eley.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home in Nashville, TN with Mark McInteer and Randall Pardue officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 pm Thursday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Fayetteville, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-8 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
