

Leanore Sleph Wartell was born June 2, 1934, to Samuel and Sadie Sleph in Chicago, IL. She passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023, in the presence of her loving family after an extended illness in Brentwood, TN.
Leanore graduated from the University of Louisville June 3, 1956, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in teaching high school level English. She went on to marry her late husband, Stuart, of 59 years, June 21, 1956. Together they moved to Nashville in 1962, where she later became the VP of Hadassah in the Nashville chapter of TN.
Leanore enjoyed traveling across North America, Europe, and Israel. She moved to Ajijic, Jalisco Mexico in 1990 where she volunteered, teaching local children and adults to read and write in English. In the year 2000, she returned to the United States, moving to Sarasota, FL where she became the President of Hadassah in the Sarasota chapter. She moved back to Nashville in 2017.
Leanore was very devoted to her faith, and she participated in going to the Synagogue until she was no longer able to.
Leanore is preceded in death by her husband Stuart Wartell, daughter Holli Wartell, her parents, and her brother, Gerald Sleph.
She is survived by daughter Sherri W. Faulkner (Doug Faulkner III), son Steven Wartell, sister-in-law Beverly Sleph, granddaughters Ashely Vrabcak (Kennison Vrabcak) Rebecca Wartell and Megan Wartell, and great-granddaughter Coralynn Vrabcak.
A gathering of friends and family was held at the chapel on the grounds of Sherith Israel and West End Synagogue Cemetery, 2113 15th Ave N., Nashville, TN 37208, on Friday, April 14, 2023 with burial to follow.
