

She will be remembered for her radiant smile that could literally light up a room, a reflection of the genuine warmth, and joy she brought to everyone around her. She was a friend, a mentor, and a source of strength and support to many throughout her life. She was an accomplished vocalist, pianist, and organist. She began performing for private events at an early age and was later featured as a regular entertainer at the Centennial Park Summer Concerts in Nashville in the 1960's.
She was a music, English, and math teacher at East Jr. High, East High, Donelson Jr. High, and Wright Middle School. She led a children's music program and taught private piano lessons at Christ the King School for 27 years. She truly enjoyed bringing smiles to children's faces.
She was a proud graduate of Donelson High School, Class of 1964. She loved attending the class reunions. She was a graduate of Austin Peay State University with a B.S. and master's degree in music. She was a member of the Governettes, a drill/dance team that performed with the APSU Governor's Marching Band. She was honored in the 2021-2022 Who's Who for her musical accomplishments.
She was a member of the John B. Garrett order of the Eastern Star. She served as organist and choir director at several churches in the Nashville and Clarksville areas including Woodbine United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Thompson, her parents, Ralph and Essie Mae Barry Wood, her beloved cousin John Dewey Wilson, and her cherished pets Bam Bam, Caggles, and Muffy.
She is survived by daughter, Holly Thompson (Patrick) Sault, 3 grandchildren, Victoria (Brandon) Murphy, Colin (Fatima) Douglas, Craig (Alyssa) Douglas, 9 great-grandchildren, and Cousin Betty Joanne Marina. She is also survived by her special beloved "baby" Pebbles.

Visitation will be at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home at 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville on Thursday, May 14th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 15th, 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church at 3001 Belmont Blvd., Nashville, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Linda to the Nashville Humane Society.
