Mr. Griffin was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1934 and came to Nashville after having served in the US Army as a weapons instructor. He was a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University and began his career in banking at Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan. For a time, he was a REALTOR, specializing in residential development, construction and sales. From the mid 1980’s until he retired in 2005, he was CEO of The Compliance Team, providing regulatory and operational assistance to community banks throughout much of the southeastern US. Mr. Griffin was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Franklin, TN.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Clarice Spruill Griffin.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gail Warner Lynam Griffin: daughters, Sandra Griffin Broida Favorite (John) and Kimberly Griffin Rios (Ricardo); stepchildren Kathleen Lynam Bailey (Jeff) and Richard M. Lynam (Nicole), five grandchildren: Steven Broida (Michelle), Michael Broida (Emily) , John Broida (Sarena), Brandon Rios (Jessie) and Ryan Rios (Tia), four step-grandchildren Josh Bailey, Brianna Bailey, Austin Lynam and Preston Lynam; great granddaughter, Daisy Rios; two sisters, Rubye Ene and Shirley Skinner of Virginia, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Griffin will surely be missed by his many friends and neighbors. He will be interred in the columbarium in the garden of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Franklin, TN.
