Our beloved Lolo was called by the Lord to join Him in His eternal home while peacefully sleeping on Friday, July 31, 2020. She will be missed by many good friends, her loving family, her church community, the “Girls” at the Centennial Club, her colleagues from her 40 plus years in real estate and banking, and everyone else she knew and loved.
Lois was a gifted hostess, a compassionate, straight-shooter who possessed amazing common sense. Being a true “southern lady”, she never left the house without lipstick, perfectly pressed clothes, a beautiful purse, and her genuine, wonderful smile. Lois threw never dull dinner parties. At one, she met the love of her life, Ed. They wed in 1968 and enjoyed 52 years of marriage. Together they hosted many more of those treasured get-togethers and embodied the essence of forever love. She loved her children: Christine (Phil)Rather, Tom (Sabrina)Holt, and Marion (Crit)Wilmoth. Absolutely adored her grandchildren: Alex (Rebecca) Holt, Clint Holt, Matthew Rather, Jessica Rather, and Lily Wilmoth.
She proudly was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church for 52 years where she served on the Altar Guild and the Wedding Committee. Some of her favorite roles were keeping Groomsman from being rowdy and polishing the brass and silver for the Holy Communion. If not in Nashville, Lois and Ed were most likely enjoying their home in Sandestin golfing, biking and fishing(yes Lois fished!) and sunset Happy Hours on the back deck which she continued to enjoy until the end.
There will be a private burial service conducted by Reverend Dr. Leigh Spruill. A celebration of life will be held when possible. Memorials may be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Pike 37205, or the Episcopal School of Nashville, 1310 Ordway Place 37206.
