

Mr. Buchanan died on December 30, 2011 at the age of 92 years. He was born on April 14, 1919 in Guthrie, Kentucky to James Sidney and Myrtle Larmer Buchanan. He was a graduate of East High School and worked for thirty-eight years for AT&T in Nashville. He was also a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Buchanan honorably served his country during WWII. He was preceded in death by brothers; Blanford, John, James, and Emmett Buchanan and by sisters; Geneva (John) McElroy, Mattie (Rudolph) Walker, Myrtle (Kenneth) Finley and Vivian (Tom) Bussert. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Thacker Buchanan; his daughters, Evelyn (John) Brandon of Franklin and Julia (Nelson) Tomlinson of Nashville; his sister, Juanita (Neely) McCoy of Nashville; grandchildren, Jason (Christy) Brandon, Jeremy Brandon and Julia (Mike) Perfilio; and by three great-grandchildren, John Michael and Julianna Brandon and Anthony Perfilio. Mr. Buchanan was a direct descendant of Archibald Buchanan, one of the original founders of Nashville. He was an ordained deacon and life-long member of the Baptist Church. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral home with Pastor Steven Meriwether of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Visitation with the family will be at Woodlawn Monday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday morning. Pallbearers will be Jason Brandon, Jeremy Brandon, Mike Perfilio, Robert McCain, Stephen Eddy and Scott Witt.
