

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Norman Leslie Taylor; her nephew, Robert Leslie Taylor; and her beloved husband, Richard H. Prater.
Lovie proudly served in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant after 35 months of service. Following her military service, she began her career with the Veterans Administration, where she worked faithfully for 35 years until her retirement.
She met her husband while working at the V.A., and they shared more than 64 years of marriage together. They attended Vultee Church of Christ for 50+ years and volunteered their time with Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort.
Lovie is survived by her two daughters, Gloria Jean Goins (Mike) and Karen Ann Shrum (Jack); her granddaughters, Brittany Goins and Jenson Holden (Chris); her grandsons, Chris Shrum and Jeremy Shrum (Morgan); and her four great-grandchildren, Sophie, Houston, and Colt Holden, and Vivien Shrum.
Lovie will be remembered for her faith, strength, devotion to family and the remarkable life she lived across more than a century of history. Her family will forever cherish her unconditional love and will miss her deeply.

Visitation will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, on May 14, 2026, following the Funeral Service.
