Mr. Benson was born on March 7, 1919 in Moreland, IN, Son of the late Hugard Benson, Sr. and Cora Lee Benson.
Mr. Benson dedicated the majority of his life to the medical field as an x-ray tech. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed tinkering with items around his home. He was a proud and active member of Riverside Chapel Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Galimore Benson; brothers, Frederick, George and Hugard Benson, Jr.; sister, Dorcus P. Benson.
Survivors include his son, Lowell “Ricky” Benson, Jr. (Carol); daughter, Sandra Silas (Reginald); grandchildren, Calvin Jamel, Esteban Benson, Austin & Lacy Silas; sister, Luada Maycock; sister-in-law, Lois Benson and nephew, Paul Benson.
Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at eleven o’ clock in the morning at Riverside Chapel Church.
Entombment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park’s Cross Mausoleum.
Gathering of friends will be held one hour prior to service time at the church.
