Lucy was born on April 7, 1925, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, to Leland and Ruth. Over the course of her remarkable 101 years, she witnessed a century of change while remaining deeply rooted in the people, faith, and traditions she loved.
For 43 years, Lucy served as the church secretary at Crievewood United Methodist Church, where she became a familiar and cherished presence. Her many years there reflected her dedication, kindness, and commitment to the church community that meant so much to her.
Lucy had a wonderful creative spirit and loved expressing herself through art. Whether she was carefully coloring in a detailed coloring book, painting a picture, or decorating her fingernails with a unique design, she always found joy in creating something beautiful.
Above all else, Lucy loved her family. The time she spent with those she loved was precious to her, and her family remained at the center of her life.
Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Reed; her daughter, Joan Dixon; her son-in-law, Tommy Dixon; her sister, Elizabeth; her brother, Ed; and her parents, Leland and Ruth.
She is lovingly remembered by her grandson, Ben Dixon and his wife, Allison; and her great-grandchildren, Noah Dixon, Parker Dixon, and Brooklyn Dixon.
Lucy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. Visitation will be held from 10:15 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Cross Mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Crievewood United Methodist Church in Lucy’s memory.
