Luther Gene Watson, age 80 of Nashville, departed this life on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. He was born on September 7, 1940 in Tampa Florida to the late Luther Morton and Gretchen Madeline Ringfeil Watson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Aunt Fannie Gamble.
Gene was a life long fan of the University of Alabama. He played track and football at DuPont High School and Middle Tennessee State University. He was a AAU US Powerlifter and appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine in the 1960's. Gene was a member of the Music City Bop Club in Nashville. He was a coach for the Girl's Fast Pitch Softball at CHYAA and Music City Girls Softball Association. He worked for the Metro Nashville Water Departement for over 20 Years and finally retired in 1995.
He is survived by his daughters, Gena S. Watson of Nashville, TN Kellye (Bobby) Potter of Brentwood, TN; grandsons, Brandon (Candi) Potter of Brentwood, TN , Kellen Potter of Brentwood, TN; great-grandson, Aidan "Smokey" Potter of Brentwood, TN; his loving dog, Lucky and cousin, Martha McGowen of North Carolina.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 from eleven in the morning until time of service at one o'clock in the afternoon at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service will be held at one o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The service will be streamed Live on Facebook @Woodlawn-Roesch
Pallbearers will be, Bobby Potter, Brandon Potter, Kellen Potter, Greg Cook, Tommy Hahn, Davey Lannom and Steve Hailey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Martin Poe, Jr., Wayne Winters and Jerry Pearson, Eddie Deford, Marin Poe, III, Eddie Pigue and Earl Ballard.
