Lynda S Dowd

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Lynda will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a Celebration of Life Service in Dignity Hall at 3:00 PM with burial to follow.

A native of Coffee County, Tennessee she was born on September 8, 1933 the daughter of the late Lloyd and Elizabeth May Elder. She grew up in the heart of Tennessee and spent her life in service to others, always sharing a warm smile and an encouraging word. Her love for life was evident in her devotion to family, friends, and the many lives she touched over the years. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Lynda’s life was marked by her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and boundless love will always be remembered.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Janice Smith and her siblings, Lloyd McMahan, Jr., John McMahan, Ira Neal, Sally Fuller, Vernel Toy and Francis Dodson.

Lynda’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her husband John T. Dowd. Her children Thomas (Teresa) Dowd, Mike (Vicki) Dowd, Karen (Mark) Briggs, and Jonna (Terry) Ward. Her siblings Barbara Alexandrer and Vance McMahan. Her grandchildren Zachary Dowd, Samantha Ward, Barry (Shelby) Hutchison, Sarah (Tyler) Garner, Taylor (Seth) Cunningham, Jordan (HAnnah) Dowd, Victoria (Austine) Daniels and Caley SMith.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Heart N' Soul Hospice in Lynda's honor.
