Mabel Louise Thacker

Mabel Louise Thacker, age 94, beloved wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 18th, 2015 in Smyrna, TN. She was born in Minor Hill, Tennessee on October 1st, 1920 to a family with five brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her father, Hollis Washington Rogers and mother, Cora Velma Newton, one sister Orlean, and three brothers, Thomas, Clifton, and James. Mrs. Thacker is survived by her husband of 72 years Roland Thacker; her sister, Annie Jean McConnell, two children, Janet Will (Richard) of Waseca, Minnesota and Ronnie Thacker (Debra) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee ; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. She was homemaker by trade who raised many other children, skilled cook who never let anyone leave hungry, and avid gardener who loved her flowers especially her Lilies and Iris. She was a lifelong follower of basketball and played center on her team from Minor Hill, Tennessee growing up. She also was a member of Florence Church of Christ in Murfreesboro TN. A celebration of life service will take place on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home’s Dignity Hall in Nashville. Visitation will be held from noon until service time at the funeral home with an internment following.
