Wills Oglesby died peacefully at home on April 2. Born in Brownsville, Tennessee on April 5, 1926 he is preceded in death by parents Herbert E. and Harriette Wills Oglesby, and brother Col. H. W. Oglesby.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Mary Jane; Dr. John Wills Oglesby (Michele), Robert Edwin Oglesby (Vicki); Dr. Jane Oglesby Jones (Andy), eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Wills graduated from high school in Mobile, Alabama and attended the University of the South, Sewanee. He served as a member of the US Navy program in preparation for Navy flight school. At the end of WWII, he transferred to Georgia Tech as an NROTC student and graduated in 1948 with a BS degree and as an Ensign in the Navy. After serving five more years in the Navy reserve he was discharged December 1959. Wills spent his entire working career with Genesco Inc. (Genesco Shoe Corp) in various management rolls including initial group of computer programmers, Executive Vice President of Formfit Rogers, and Director of Corporate Credit and Assistant Vice President of Genesco, Assistant Treasurer and Director of Financial Operations. Upon his retirement in 1992, he remained as a member of the Retirement Investment Board and was a Trustee of the Genesco Retirement Trust for twelve years.
As a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, he served both as a Deacon and an Elder. He was active with the Boy Scouts for over 20 years.
Wills was an avid tennis player who also enjoyed golf, nature, traveling and photography. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Belle Meade Country Club.
