ARMSTRONG, Margaret Cockrill Chumley, “Granny”, age 93, of Nashville, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011. Preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Taylor, “C.T.”, Chumley, Jr.; second husband, Charles Allen, “Tick”, Armstrong; parents, Roy Cockrill, Sr. and Minnie Myrtle Hinson Cockrill Goodwin, and step-father, David Burr Goodwin; sisters, Marie Young and Evelyn Rash; brothers, Douglas Cockrill and Roy Cockrill, Jr. Survived by sons, Jere (Janet) Chumley and Norman (Diane) Chumley; sisters, Minnie Lee Rodrigues and Myrtle Beatrice Goodwin; grandschildren, great grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Armstrong was born July 2, 1917. She graduated from Central High School in Nashville, and was retired Administrative Assistant from the U.S.D.A., Milk Marketing Division, Nashville. Margaret was a member of Stones River Women’s Club, and she was a Lioness. She was a faithful member of Donelson 1st Baptist Church for almost 60 years and served the church in various capacities. The family would like to thank the staff at McKendree Manor and Alive Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00am Thursday, May 5, 2011 in Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Barron officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Family members will serve as Pallbearers. Visitation with the family Wednesday 2 – 6pm.
