
Margaret Ruth Shields Bettis, age 92, passed away on September 10, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Taylor Bettis, who was a long time employee of South Central Bell. She is survived by her daughter, Bianca (Dale) Freeman of Lynette, Alabama; sons, Taylor Bettis of Franklin, TN and Steve (Patricia Koslovich) Bettis of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter-in-law, Ingrid Shoaf of Nashville, TN; grandchild, Isaac Bettis of Fairbanks, Alaska; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bettis was a long time member of Woodmont Baptist Church where she attended the Golden Rule Sunday School Class. She was always involved in self and spiritual development and noted for having a positive outlook. Margaret was a fine Christian woman who also embraced all religions. Her passions included yoga, gardening, macrobiotics and anything to do with health. Mrs. Bettis was often regarded as wise; she will always be remembered for saying, “ I guess the universe is looking after me.” A Graveside Service will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday the 13th of September, 2013 at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Golden Rule Sunday School Class at Woodmont Baptist Church or to Alive Hospice of Nashville.
