
Margaret Elizabeth Stewart, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. She was born September 17, 1927, in a laborer’s shack on the premises in Mt.Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, Tennessee, where her father served as a grounds keeper and later Superintendent. Margaret shared stories of her special childhood where at night she chased lightening bugs and played hide-and-seek behind the tombstones. As a child and young adult she attended Green Street Church of Christ, and, beginning in 1957, Lebanon Road Church of Christ.She attended Rosemont School where Miss Margaret Allen was her teacher, and then Donelson High School. She remained lifelong friends with her classmates. She had a passion for reading, writing and oratory, which she shared with her children as they made weekly visits to the Nashville Public Library’s Book Mobile that parked beside Garrett’s Drug Store in Donelson. Preceded in death by her parents Mettie Worley Stewart and Radford Stewart, husband Robert Eaton, daughter Connie Eaton Williamson, brothers Radford and Robert Stewart, sister Martha Burnette, and grandson Morgan Ryan Michael Eaton. Survived by her sons Harvill Eaton (Lois) and Michael Eaton, Grandchildren Christopher Eaton (Meredith), Mary Elizabeth Eaton Blair, Cortney Williamson Tidwell, Michael Edwards (Penny), Allison Bussel, great-grandchildren Caleb and Sam Eaton, Camilla and Elizabeth Blair, Elijah and Hunter Tidwell, Cory Edwards, and Cooper Bussell. Margaret is also survived by many nieces and nephews and by her dear sister-in-law Peggy Stewart who has been with her every step of the way. Special gratitude to Debbie Cantrell, John Ricks and Tammy Paulen (Deaconess Home Care) who for years cared for, blessed and loved Margaret.Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Green Street Church of Christ Homeless Project, 2258 Lebanon Pike, #42, Nashville, Tennessee 37214. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday October 8, 2017, 2 PM Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of the service at the Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
