Born November 5, 1919 in Robertson County, Tennessee. Died June 10, 2019 in Franklin, Tennessee.
Preceded in death by her mother Nannie Jones and father W. T. Orand of Robertson County, Tennessee; her husbands Robert F. Sweeney Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee and Eugene Holman of Barren Plains, Tennessee; her brother Grady Orand of Athens, Georgia, her sister Edna Poole of Downey, California, her half-sister Faye O. Arrington of Joelton, Tennessee, and her Step-daughter Donna Henry of Cross Plains, Tennessee. She is survived by her son, David (Jean) Sweeney of Franklin, Tennessee, grand-daughters Erin (Trent) Green of Nolensville, Tennessee, Shannon (Jason) Young of Spring Hill, Tennessee, and grandson Ryan (Michelle) Sweeney of Nashville, Tennessee. Also surviving are grandsons Connor Green, Trevor Young, Braden Sweeney, and Blake Sweeney, half-sister Estelle Anderson, step-daughter Kathy Jones (Chris) Morris of Okatie, South Carolina and sister-in-law Annis Herring of Athens, Georgia.
Mrs. Holman was a member of The Church of Christ and attended Lawrence Avenue Church in Nashville, Hillsboro Church in Nashville, Main Street Church in Springfield, and most recently Spring Hill Church of Christ. She graduated from St. Thomas School of Nursing In 1943 and worked at St. Thomas for over 25 years. She worked in the newborn nursery almost her entire career and was head nurse when she retired. She came out of retirement briefly to establish the nursery at the old Donelson Hospital before finally retiring.
Gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, June 13 from five o’clock until eight, and one prior to the service on Friday at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, Tennessee.
A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Friday at two in the afternoon with Bro. Joe Rushing of Springfield, TN. officiating.
Honorary Pall Bearers are Connor Green, Trevor Young, Braden Sweeney, Blake Sweeney, Jim Sweeney, Scott Sweeney, Keith Sweeney, Craig Sweeney, Daniel Hosse, Jim Poole, Jack Poole and Milton Orand.
