

She was born on August 1, 1932 in Lakeland Florida, daughter of Roy Quinn Craig and Frances Straw.
She received an undergraduate degree from Stetson University, Deland, Florida, in 1953 with a BS in HPE [Health & Physical Education] and a Master’s in Library Science from George Peabody College [Nashville TN] in 1968.
Prior to joining the staff at Vanderbilt in 1968, she taught in the public school systems of Key West, Florida, San Antonio, Texas and Woodbury, Connecticut.
She was a reference librarian at the Jean and Alexander Heard Library from July 1, 1968 until retiring August 30, 1997. In November 1989, she was presented by the Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center with the first annual Mary Jane Werthan Award for her work in developing a women’s studies bibliography at Vanderbilt. For many decades until her death, she was a very active volunteer with Catholic Charities of Nashville. She was a member of The Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Roy Quinn Craig and Frances Straw Craig.
Survivors include second cousin Diane Bethany Faber of Prattville, Alabama; third cousins Barbara Faber Mertz and her husband Aaron of Lenexa, Kansas and Blaine Faber, III of Shawnee, Kansas and their children: Brooke and Duncan Mertz and Alexander Faber.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016, at one o’clock, Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico alongside her parents.
