Born and raised in Nashville, TN, JoAn was the eldest daughter of Meryl and Dora Mae Hodge. Upon graduating from Nashville General Hospital as a nurse, she married her high school sweetheart, J. Douglas Wright, Jr. Together they raised three children – Joanna Lynn Wright, Susanna Wright (Jon) Julian, and James Patrick Wright. She was affectionately known as “Nannie” to her two granddaughters, Gracie and Olivia Julian, sister to Carolyn Hodge (Harold) Schrader, and Meryl (Barbara) Hodge, and Linda Wright (Bob) Nipp, and “Josie” to her dear nieces and nephews.
JoAn lived life to the fullest – second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, runner, cyclist, world traveler, and Green Hills Garden Club member. She was a faithful student and teacher of God’s Word, and member of Crieve Hall Church of Christ for over fifty years. She will be affectionately remembered for her pure heart, selfless love, and constant joy!
Even through her journey with Alzheimer’s, JoAn’s light never faded. Doug, her husband of 63 years, was her rock to the end.
