Marjorie Page was born in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of Louis Jacob and Mathilde Mann Bircher. She graduated from Nashville West End High School in 1946 and entered Vanderbilt University that Fall.
At Vanderbilt, she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. In September 1946 she met Tom Page in a freshman math class, they fell in love immediately and married four years later on October 6, 1950.
After marrying, Tom and Marjorie made homes in Nashville; San Marino, California; Berwyn, Pennsylvania; and Chatham, New Jersey before returning to Nashville upon Tom’s retirement from The Woolworth Corporation in 1994. They also built and had a deep, decades-long love for their summer home on Stoney Lake in Woodview, Ontario, Canada.
Marjorie was a lifelong active member of the Presbyterian Church in every place she lived. She was a long-time member of PEO – a women’s educational and philanthropic organization.
She was heavily involved with The Girl Scouts of America as a troop member, Camp Counselor, and as an adult troop leader.
Marjorie dedicated herself with equal passion to being a wife, mother, homemaker, and friend.
Marjorie was predeceased by Thomas Everette Page, her husband, the love of her life, and her partner and best friend for more than 58 years. She is also predeceased by her parents Louis and Tillie and her sister, Helen Guillet. She is survived by her children: Fred Page (Sally) of Nashville; Alice O’Dwyer of Nashville; Jim Page (Janet) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Dan Page (Dawn) of Baltimore, Maryland; and Joe Page (Susan) of Nashville and Mendham, New Jersey. “Marm” was also loved by fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and by friends and family all over the world.
A celebration of her life and Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at Hillsboro Presbyterian Church, 5820 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN, on Thursday January 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM . Her family will greet friends at the church at 12:00 PM. Marjorie’s ashes will be scattered in the church’s memory garden following the service.
