Mark Allen Atkins entered into this world on July 10th, 1969 in Renton, Washington. His parents Betty and Douglas Atkins were thrilled to welcome their second boy into their family after nearly ten years of hoping and praying for their second child together.
As a child, Mark developed a love for sports by listening to games on the radio and by pitching on his Little League baseball teams. Mark especially shined on the basketball court and while playing chess. He won various sporting tournaments and earned accolades during his high school basketball years such as the runner-up MVP for his league and the league-wide Sportsmanship Award. He was a lifelong fan of both the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants. As the son of a pastor, Mark learned at a young age to have a heart for God. He attended various Christian schools in Loomis, California, Nashua, New Hampshire, Greenville, Ohio, and Hamilton, Ohio before graduating high school from Calvary Christian Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1987.
Mark attended Indiana Bible College in Indianapolis and Christian Life College in Stockton, California where he met the love of his life, Julissa Campos. They fell head-over-heels in love and quickly became engaged to be married. They wed on June 19th, 1993 in Westlake Village, California in an elegant ceremony officiated by Mark’s father and remembered by loved ones to this day. Mark and Julissa then moved to Mark’s home of Hamilton, Ohio and soon after welcomed their first-born son, Markus in 1994.
Mark’s business career started as a young boy on his paper route and was foundational for helping start his first companies, AAA Sports, Inc. and Wild Card, alongside his brothers and father. During this time, Mark traveled all over the country doing tradeshows in New York City, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlantic City, and many other destinations which helped him build relationships and distribution channels. Mark especially thrived as a notably skilled negotiator. He helped the companies grow exponentially and served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing during these years.
Mark then moved his family to Simi Valley, California where he worked as a salesman for Technology Trading Company. While in Simi, they also launched a small business, Beanie Connection, and welcomed in their first daughter, Kailyn.
In 1999, Mark and Julissa relocated to Folsom, California where Mark was a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Limited Treasures, Inc. During this time, Mark was instrumental in landing deals with companies such as Walmart, Kroger, Family Dollar, Rite-Aid, Tractor Supply, Dollar General, Aafes, the National Football League, and Disney. Their next two daughters, Kelsey and Lindsey were born in Folsom in 2001 and 2003, respectively.
In 2005, the business was thriving and the family decided to relocate to raise their kids in Brentwood, Tennessee. This is where they would spend the next nine years before the family moved to Gilbert, Arizona, where they enjoyed seven years in the Valley of the Sun. The family returned to Tennessee in 2021.
Mark lived out his final years on his terms, finding joy in his various hobbies, the food he ate, and the people he was with. His wishes of passing away at home with his wife and kids under one roof were fulfilled on August, 28, 2024.
Mark is survived by his wife of 31 years, Julissa (Campos) Atkins; 4 children: Markus Josiah, Kailyn Joy, Kelsey Lynn, Lindsey McKay; siblings; David Raffield (Julie), Lila Brazil (Joe), Douglas Atkins (Teresa) and Daniel Atkins (Darla); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mark is preceded in death by his parents Douglas Atkins, Betty Atkins, and his sister Vivan Groseclose.
Mark was faithful to the kingdom of God and helped his father found Cornerstone Apostolic Church in Hamilton, Ohio and World Harvest Church in Folsom, California. The family has supported missions financially; both domestically and all over the world. Mark adored his family more than anything and is loved and cherished by them as well as many friends. They have peace and comfort knowing that he is with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
