
Marsha Montgomery Lowry passed away at her home surrounded by her family, who adored her deeply, on August 4th, 2017.She was born January 23rd, 1938 in Knoxville, TN. She married James A. Lowry on April 5th, 1957. In 1961, they moved to Nashville, where they raised 3 girls. She worked at various agencies, including Boy Scouts of America, Stewardship Commission and Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention. They joined FBC Nashville in 1961, where she has remained a member. She served faithfully in the music department through teaching children’s choir and singing in the Adult Sanctuary Choir for over 50 years. In addition, she served as WMU Director, arranged flowers for the sanctuary, taught Sunday school for adults and youth, and tutored students in conversational English. She also volunteered for numerous church sponsored mission projects through the years. She was a talented musician as she taught piano to many students through the years and sang in a trio with special friends. She had many interests including gardening, traveling, sewing, reading, and mastering crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband James A. Lowry, daughters Lisa Bryan (John), Julie Taylor (Len) and Sherra Still (Coye), brother Stuart Montgomery (Kay), Brother-in-law, Joe Pridemore, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 11:30 am on August 07, 2017 at Nashville First Baptist Church, 108 7thAve. S, with a memorial service at 12:30. There will be a private family graveside service afterwards.
