She is leaving loving children Teresa Crotzer (Mark Sr.), Finch, Terry Powell Crotzer, and grandson Mark Timothy Finch Jr., many nieces and nephews.
Sue was a member of the Silent Generation and the Greatest Generation.
She was born October 15, 1932, and was parentless by the age of five, on a farm in Hohenwald, TN. Despite much adversity in her young life, she grew into a prominent business person and entrepreneur, in a predominantly male dominated business world.
She opened her first business Coiffure Studio Inc.1958. This salon generated over 300 employees during its years of operation. During this time she mentored many cosmetologists to open their own salons.
She worked for her community, giving to countless schools/groups/charities/individuals, joining organizations/associations to benefit professional institutions locally and nationally.
Edsel her husband partnered with her life’s goals. He worked at the businesses and took part in helping raise Teresa, Terry, and grandchild Mark, Jr. They had a relationship that was 24/7 to create the American Dream into reality.
She had a mind for business, but was also a great hostess in her home. She enjoyed entertaining at all levels, private intimate dinner parties, large celebrations too…plus family happy hours watching the amazing sunsets at her home viewing downtown Nashville.
Living a healthy life was important to Sue, she exercise everyday, loved the machines at the Y, line danced, gardened with herbs and flowers. Learned to swim after eighty.
She walked this earth with a quick step.
She quietly lived her own politics/religion and would change her beliefs if she witnessed injustices. She belonged to three faiths, Pentecostal, Methodist and Church of Christ. Sue believed a Church was only a building, run just by people and her God lived in her heart therefore she had many family/friends that loved her dearly for her openness to all faiths.
