Mary Carney Dawson

Mary had a zest for life and learning that was insatiable.

She loved reading, cooking, sewing, gardening and all animals. She also enjoyed a great deal of friendships.

Her kids were her everything, her children that called her Mom and those in the classroom.

She was passionate about teaching Spanish and loved watching her students’ faces light up when they “got it”.

Mary was a Spanish teacher at Martin Luther King High School, Lebanon High School, and Heritage Hall in Oklahoma City, OK.

She received her Degrees from Tennessee State University and Knox College. She was currently working on her second Masters.

She is survived by her husband of six years and high school best friend Allen Dawson Jr.

Children Catherine Elizabeth English, Andrew Christopher English and their Father Scott English; Danielle Alexis Dawson, Terry Allen Dawson and Thomas Alexander Melder; parents Richard and Susie Carney, parents in law Allen and Patricia Lynn Dawson Jr. special friend Becki Gibson and furry children Ocho and Taz.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday February 27th at Woodlawn Roesch- Patton Funeral Home from ten O’ clock in the morning until five o’clock in the evening.

Memorial Service to begin at five o’clock in the evening at Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Private inurnment at a later date.
