Mary Joyce Dodson, age 80 of LaVergne, TN, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Mrs. Dodson was born in Franklin County, AL on May 14, 1936 to the late Betsy & M.C. Gardner. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Dodson, Sr. Survivors include son, William Dodson, Jr.; daughter, Deborah Dodson; sister, Jewell Hagood; niece, Myra Hagood; cousin, Francis Chandler; Friends at LaVergne Senior Citizen Center; and Friends at Perry Heights Church of Christ. Mary was employed for many years by Vanderbilt University’s Undergraduate Department of Admissions office. She enjoyed sewing and creating various crafts and clothing. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8th at 2:00pm in the chapel of Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, February 7th from 4:00pm-8:00pm and again on Wednesday, February 8th from 12:00pm until time of service.
