Mary Edith was born in Celina, TN on September 13, 1923 to George W. and Lockie Masters Butler. She was the third child of 10 children. She had 4 sisters and 5 brothers. She was a graduate of Celina High School and Saint Thomas School of Nursing. She married Douglas Warren Forehand on May 9, 1949 in Celina, TN. They were married 58 years and had 2 children.
She worked as a registered nurse for Saint Thomas Hospital and Veterans Administration Hospital. Additionally, she worked as the school nurse for David Lipscomb and worked for Trevecca Assisted Living.
Her interests included art, cooking, gardening and family historian. She was a former member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Nashville Number One Chapter as well as a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Cumberland Chapter. Prior to her move to the Mary, Queen of Angels assisted living, she had been a member of the Church of Christ on Granny White Pike.
Mary Edith is preceded in her death by her father, mother, husband, 4 sisters and 5 brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Faye (Sterling) Head, son, Charles (Brenda) Forehand, grandsons, Robert Warren (Karen) Cohen, Richard Warren (Alison) Forehand, granddaughter, Rachel (Daniel) Jean and great-grandson, Michael Warren Cohen.
