

Mary Ann earned her Bachelor of Business degree in Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University in 1961. She dedicated 42 years of service to the State of Tennessee, contributing her talents to both the Department of Finance and the Department of Children’s Services. Her strong work ethic and commitment left a lasting impact on colleagues and the community she served.
She was a woman of remarkable character—independent, loving, kind, and generous. Mary Ann held herself and others to high standards, always encouraging those around her to live up to their fullest potential.
As the matriarch of the Gaffney family, she was truly a force to be reckoned with, and her legacy of independence, kindness, generosity, and love will continue to guide her family for generations.
She is survived by her daughter: Michelle Gaffney; her granddaughter: Emma Gaffney; and her sister: Theresa Jean (Frey) Call. She had many nieces and nephews; her favorite has always been Don Frey.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Linnie (Whitlow) Frey; her father: Stephen Philip Frey; and her brother Patrick Frey.
Mary Ann Gaffney will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
