GRISSOM, Mary Herberta Passed away July 13, 2012 at the age of 67. She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert G. Grissom; sister, Sylvia Grissom Funger; and dear friend, Jozelle Crabtree. She is survived by mother, Grace G. Grissom; brother-in-law, Kenneth D. Funger; cousins, Jack McGee and Sharon Eads; and longtime friend, Michael Allbee. She also leaves behind her beloved Pomeranians that she referred to as her children, BJ and Lucy. Herberta was a very loving devoted daughter, cousin and friend to many. Herberta was born August 30, 1944 in Knoxville, TN. Her family moved from Knoxville to Nashville and in 1955 began a new business; Mrs. Grissom Salads. She grew up watching and helping her parents develop the family business. Herberta was very proud of her family name and of Mrs. Grissom Salads. She worked in the family business and was able to retire after 40 years of service. You never saw Herberta that she wasn't working on needlepoint. However, one of her greatest achievements was that she was able to complete her education by graduating from Martin Methodist College in 1997 with a Bachelor of Art in Business Degree and went on to serve on the Alumni Council. She was a long time active member of Brentwood United Methodist Church where she also served as an Andrews Minister. Herberta always cherished her long time sorority sisters, Beta Sigma Phi. Thank you Herberta for the love that you have shared with all of us. You will truly be missed. Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family on Monday, July 16, 2012 from five o'clock until seven o'clock in the evening at Brentwood United Methodist Church, and again Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service. A Celebration of Life service will follow at eleven o'clock Tuesday morning, July 17, 2012. Bishop Robert H. Spain to Officiate. Active Pallbearers will be Barry Gass, Mark Schock, Jack McGhee, Tom Heath, Keith McIntosh and Richard Tribue. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
