Mary Gladys Papuchis, age 95 of Nashville, TN, passed away on January 5, 2020. She was born on October 30, 1924 to Eustus and Edith Papuchis. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothea, Anthony, and Mildred.
Mary Gladys is survived by her siblings; Trula (Rich) Davis, Helen (James) Harwood, Jason (Sue) Papuchis, George Thomas (Beverly) Papuchis, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Gladys’ career started when she began working as a waitress on 5th and Broad at her father’s restaurant; there she was able to interact with many Grand Ole Opry stars and start her journey. She attended Vanderbilt University, where she got her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and later obtained a masters in Social Work.
Besides spending time with her family and friends; Mary Gladys was very passionate of her Greek Heritage. She enjoyed shopping for Greek jewelry as well as traveling to Greece. She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox of Cincinnati, Ohio and a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Nashville and had a warmth for God. Mary Gladys was a giver with a huge heart. She was family oriented and had a bright and attentive personality.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with the funeral service immediately following at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will take place at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
