

SCOBEY, Mary Frances, 68, a lifelong resident of Davidson County, passed away unexpectedly at her home on February 29, 2012. She graduated from Hillsboro High School & Lipscomb University with a major in Home Economics. While attending Lipscomb, Mary Frances studied art & showed her whimsical drawings & paintings at local art fairs & shows. Mary Frances taught art in elementary schools in Dade County, GA, Sterling, CO & as a traveling art teacher in Williamson Co. After leaving Sterling, CO, Mary decided there was no other place she would rather be than in Nashville, TN. She loved animals and mothered dogs, cats & a parakeet. Mary was well known by merchants & patrons in the Green Hills area where she ate & conversed with everyone. She loved to tell jokes, many of which she repeated from her father. She also loved special events, holidays, TPAC shows and received great pleasure in giving parties for others, especially birthday parties. Mary was caring, generous, very forgiving & never met a stranger. She was a long time attendee of Hillsboro Church of Christ. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents Mildred (Cisco) & Herndon S. Scobey. She is survived by her sister, Judith S. Gentry, Nashville, TN, two nieces, Angela Gentry, West Palm Beach, FL with whom she was very close, & Jennifer Steinbrenner, Plano, TX & one grandniece, Caroline Davis Steinbrenner. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillsboro Church of Christ, 5800 Hillsboro Road, Nashville, TN. Visitation with the family will be held Monday, March 5, 2012 from 6-8p.m. at Woodlawn. The family suggests donations made in her memory to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Arrangements under the direction of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Nashville, TN.
