

Maryanne Boillin Cain, age 89, died peacefully April 2, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born on January 9, 1927. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Joseph Boillin and her loving husband of 54 years Robert Patrick Cain, Jr.
Maryanne was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend to many. Maryanne grew up in Clarksville, TN and graduated from Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in New York City. She was a longtime parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church. Her life centered on her family, her home and her faith. Hobbies included travel, tennis, boating, literature and music. Maryanne was an accomplished piano player and sang in the choir of Christ the King Parish and Assumption Church for many years. She was a member of Stoney Crest Garden Club, the Colonna Club of Nashville and Cedar Creek Yacht Club. Through the years she was an active volunteer in the community and was recognized by Fannie Battle Day home for 50 years of annual Christmas caroling. She took great joy in composing a family history book covering four generations. Her home was the welcoming place for family gatherings. She especially savored the yearly family vacations at the beach and holidays and Thanksgiving celebrations at the family lake house. Maryanne is survived by seven children: Mary Anne (Ben) Meeks, Karen Cain, Ellen (Tim) Herman, Margot (Bob) Chaffin, Robert P. Cain III (Heather) Joan (Bill) Rotert and Joe (Katie) Cain; twenty two grandchildren: Theresa Laurence (Peter), Elizabeth Meeks, Catherine (Alex) Meeks, Eileen Kesner (Scott), Michael, Andrew and Christopher Herman, Davis (Camille), Patrick, and Karen Chaffin. Robert IV, Walker and John Cain, Will, Kevin, Thomas and James Rotert, Caitlin, Emily, Ashley, Megan and Joseph Cain, and five great grandchildren: Rosalie, Elliot and Miriam Laurence, Raina Meeks and Bo Chaffin. The family would like to recognize and thank Valerie Armstrong for her dedicated companionship and care of our mother. Val was truly a cherished best friend. Visitation at Christ the King Catholic Church 3001 Belmont Blvd Tuesday April 5 from 4 to 7 with a Rosary at 7 PM and Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 AM on Wednesday April 6 with the Most Rev. Bishop David Choby officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ the King Church, Father Ryan High School, the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia or the charity of your choice.
