He was born March 9, 1949 in Nashville, Tennessee, a son of the late Carl Matthew Vestal and Ruth Copenhaver Vestal and younger brother to Franklin ‘Frank’ Vestal.
Matt attended University of Tennessee at Martin. He married his college sweetheart, Barbara Bullock, and moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to start a family and loyal career with Ford Motor Company at their Tulsa Glass Plant where he retired after 30+ years of service.
He had a love for watching and playing soccer — instilling his passion for the sport in his three children. When he wasn’t on the soccer field, you’d find him in camo walking the fields dove hunting with friends, reeling in a rainbow, grilling burgers, or cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Matt was a giver and a generous, fun-loving man who could kick back with the best of them. He will be greatly missed by many and forever remembered in our deepest hearts.
He is survived by his three children, Anthony, Rebecca, and Jessica, as well as his brother, Frank, and beloved grandchildren, Addison, Parker, Bennett, Hailey, Ellery, Connor, and Ava. He also leaves behind many special friends in Oklahoma and Tennessee who brought endless laughter and good times.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 20th, 2026 at 1:00pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Nashville, Tennessee where Matt will be laid to rest next to his Mom and Dad. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to honor his favorite pastime of simply enjoying the calm, natural beauty of the outdoors.
