

Melinda Richards Sherrill, 74, passed away May 11,2026 after an extended illness. Melinda was born in McMinnville, Tn on June 8, 1951, and moved with her family to Nashille in 1960 where she attended Parmer School and Hillsboro High School. Melinda cherished her years working as a certified commercial property manager with Grubb & Ellis/Centennial, Inc. from 1978 until her retirement in 2008. She was a proud member of the Institute of Real Estate Management and the National Association of Realtors.
Melinda loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of Belle Meade United Methodist Church. She was a loyal friend, devoted sister, and beloved aunt. Although she did not have children of her own, she poured endless love into her niece and nephew, doting on them as though they were her own. Her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her. She leaves behind cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends.
The family is deeply grateful to Melinda's dear friend, John Crow, whose friendship meant the world to her and who stood faithfully by her side through life's joys and challenges. His unwavering support and companionship were a true blessing and brought her great comfort through the years. Melinda is preceded in death by her parents, Royce and Emily Richards. She is survived by her sister, Sherri Chilton, her niece, Courtenay Chilton Cline (Chad), her nephew, Robert H. Chilton IV (Leslie), two great nieces and three great nephews.
There will be a private graveside service in Sparta, Tn. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date for family and friends to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Lung Association, The National Kidney Foundation, or charity of your choice.
