

Melissa graduated from Jones High School in 1975 and continued her education at Middle Tennessee State University graduating in 1979, where she was a Kappa Delta. She married Kevin Lee Taylor on June 19, 1993, in Nashville, Tennessee. She worked inside sales in the steel industry. She has finished her career with Hertz Dollar/Thrifty car rental at the Nashville International Airport.
Melissa was a loving, dedicated wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She was a loyal friend and employee who never met a stranger. She loved her family the most, followed by her love of animals and her pets, especially her dog Annie, they were inseparable. She was also a self-proclaimed “foodie” who enjoyed trying new restaurants. She enjoyed rooting for and attending games of her favorite teams, the Tennessee Volunteers and Tennessee Titans. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as traveling. Melissa was a part of the Poodle Club.
Melissa is survived by her husband of 30 years, Kevin Taylor; son, Chris (Courtney) Ashby; daughters, Madison Taylor and Allison (Ronnie) Moore; step-daughter, Sara Ashby; sister, Luci (Ashby) Jackson and Lori (John) Rutledge; nephews, Will (Haley) Jackson and Reeves Jackson; nieces, Emma (Caleb) Tennyson and Lilli Rutledge; aunt, Dibrell (Dibby) Freeman; cousins, Lawson Freeman, Jr., Brantley Freeman, Matthew (Rosemarie) Freeman and their children, Wesley, and Claire.
Other than her parents Melissa is preceded in death by her uncle, Lawson (Sonny) Freeman.
A gathering of family & friends for Melissa will be held Monday, December 18, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. A celebration of life will occur on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204.
