

Born and raised in Nashville, the fourth of Jesse and Nelle Sharp’s 10 children, she was a 1942 graduate of St. Cecilia Academy (of which she was alumna of the year in 2011).
She married John (Jack) Coode III in January 1943, with whom she raised nine children. She was a communicant at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, a member of the Legion of Mary and the Ladies of Charity.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in January 2001, her grandson Michael Dennis McKenzie, and her parents and siblings Evelyn Sharp, Jesse Sharp, Peggy Shelton, Tom Sharp, Jack Sharp and Bill Sharp.
Beloved mother of John and Joan Petrone Coode, Ellen and Ken McWhirter (of Knoxville), Pat and Joan Byrd Coode, Mamie and Jack McKenzie, Cornelia Coode and Doug Henard, Fran and Dan Walsh, Joe and Christene Dean Coode, Phillip and Kristin Terry Coode, and Judy Coode (of Washington, D.C.) Survivors also include her 40 grand- and great-grandchildren, her siblings Dorothy Daue (of Baltimore), Frances Luster and James M. Sharp, her Coode brothers and sisters, and countless nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be conducted on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 12 noon at the Cathedral of Incarnation with Rev. Patrick Kibby, celebrant and Rev. Mike Johnston, concelebrant.
Visitation will also be held at the Cathedral on Friday evening from 4-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her memory to be made to Tennessee Voices for Children, Alive Hospice, St. Cecilia Academy or Father Ryan High School.
