ROBINSON, JR., E. Miller - Age 90 of Nashville, TN, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013. He was the son of E. Miller Robinson, M.D. and Jenny Hammond Copeland Robinson. Born in Birmingham, AL and raised in Nashville, TN, he is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Jane Farris Haynes of Nashville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd at 10:30 a.m., followed by an 11:30 a.m. memorial service at St. George's Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Road, 37205. Miller was a graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy, attended Vanderbilt University (1941-1943), and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1946. His decades-long military career included tours of duty in Japan, Germany, and Korea. As an artillery officer, instructor and battery commander, Miller was also stationed in many locations throughout the U.S. From 1960 until 1965, he served at the Pentagon as Soviet Guided Missile and Space Technical Intelligence Officer. During the Cuban Missile Crisis he was directly involved in advising government agencies at the highest level. He retired from the Army in 1967 to return to his beloved Nashville. From 1967 until 1984, Miller worked for Third National Bank (now SunTrust), first as Vice President and Director of Personnel, and later as an Investment Officer. He was proud of his efforts on behalf of many organizations as a board member, volunteer, or fund raiser including: Nashville Exchange Club, Nashville Chamber of Commerce, American Red Cross, United Way, Nashville Urban League, American Cancer Society, Tennessee State University, Tennessee Performing Arts Center, USMA, Mid-Tennessee Retired Officers Association and the Tennessee World War II Memorial. Until recently, Miller was an active member of the Nashville Exchange Club, Nashville Chamber of Commerce, USMA Alumni Association, VU Alumni Association, Nashville City Club, Belle Meade Country Club, and St. George's Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin (Diane) Robinson. He is survived by sisters Elizabeth Lacock, Margaret (Joseph) Hart; sons, Miller Robinson, Jim Robinson, John (Elizabeth) Robinson, Patrick (Jennifer) Robinson; grandchildren, Patrick Robinson, Casey Robinson, Lilli Robinson, Elisha Robinson Dragen, Olivia Robinson, Miller Robinson, Helen Robinson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. George's Episcopal Church, the American Lung Association , or the American Red Cross.
