Morris "Ty" F Davis Jr.

November 17, 1959January 31, 2019

Morris “Ty” Davis was born November 17, 1959. He was a man who had a variety of interests and lived his life on his terms. He loved people and loved making people laugh and never met sa stranger. He studied cosmetology at Helena Dye & Flannery Beauty College, studied interior design at Penn Foster, studied theology in the United Church of Christ’s Pathways Program. He was a former marketing manager at Penn, Shone and Berland and also marketing manager at Watts Capital Partners, LLC and business owner of Ty’s Triangle Beer Bar. He sold the bar and joined Holy Trinity Church in 1997. He was a charter member of Holy Trinity.

Ty was with his partner, Peter Sopagee, for 21 years. Peter passed away in 2002. Ty had been sick for several years. In October 2018, he was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. He was signed up for home health through Alive Hospice. He quickly fell in love with his nurse, Lisa and his volunteers, Jeff and Phillip, his social worker, Theresa; and chaplain, Dahl, who served him communion weekly. Ty loved them and they loved him and walked with him from October til he passed on January 31. He entered Alive Hospice Residential facility on January 23 and passed very peacefully on January 31st.

Ty touched many people with his smile that could light up a room, his wicked sense of humor that could have people in stitches in minutes and his caring heart that could bring others to tears. His mother and father pre-deceased him. He was loved and embraced by his partner, Peter’s family, who live in upstate NY and Washington state. He also had many friends in the greater Nashville area who loved him dearly.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd at noon and the funeral will at 1:00 at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home located at 1101 Lebanon Pike, Nashville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice or Rise Up Community Church.
