

COHEN, Murray, Aged 86, October 22, 2013. Murray Cohen was a native of Nashville. His parents, Hyman M. and Molly Rothman Cohen and his sisters, Ruth Estelle Cohen and Celine Thomas, preceded him in death. Murray graduated from West High, served in the Navy, and graduated from Tulane University. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.
Murray married the girl of his dreams, Isabelle Lewis (Cohen) 59 years ago. The happy couple opened Murray’s house of Fashion in 1960 and spent 36 years serving their customers. The business was truly a labor of love.
Murray had many good friends and was able to enjoy their company even in the late stages of his illness. The family wants to extend a special thanks to Murray’s caregivers, Keith Dunlap and Barry Braden who cared for him with such love that they too, became family. Murray was devoted to his family and friends, as they were with him. He will be remembered for his kindness, strength and sense of fun.
Murray will be missed by his wife, Isabelle, his daughters, Lauri Goldstein (David) and Jina Cohen (Sam), his sister, Sylvia Weinberger, and his grandchildren Rachel and Max Goldstein.
Funeral will be held at The Temple, 5015 Harding Road on October 25th at 11:00 am with the internment to follow at The Temple Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice, The Temple, or a charity of your choice.
Pallbearers to include Paul Burke, Rob Burke, Wayne Ritt, Leon Strauss, Michael Weinberger, and Bud Zander. Honorary pallbearers include Herbie Abraham, Joel Gordon, Eugene Katz, Jerome Shainberg, Roy Shainberg, Stanley Starr, Pat Yokom and the West End Lunch Bunch.
