Myrtle Ruth Thurston

Ruth Thurston age 86 passed away on October 28, 2017. She is preceded in death by her husband James M. Thurston and a grandson John Elliott Thurston. Ruth is survived by her children, Janice Thurston Eagan (David), James Richard Thurston (Teana), grandchildren, David Lee Eagan, Ashley Thurston, Great-grandchildren, Cole Elliott Miskel, Kathelyn Jane Miskel, brother, John G. Young, sister, Sarah Young Godsey.

Ruth’s first love was the Lord and her family. Shew attended West End Church of Christ until her illness. She was a licensed ASID member and worked as an Interior Designer for 45 years. Her clients usually became her extended family due to her fun loving and generous soul. There was no end to her love and kindness to her fellow man. She will be sadly missed by all whose life she touched.

Our deepest appreciation goes to her caregivers, especially Tammy Hallett, Shirley Ellis and Rob Etheridge for their kind and gentle care for Ruth. We would also like to thank Casey Espey with Avalon Hospice. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society.

Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 5-8 PM at Marshal-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home and on Friday from 10-11 AM with Funeral Service to follow at 11 AM at Marshall Donnelly Combs
