Nellie Ruth Sexton, 79 of Goodlettsville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at her home. She was born in Nashville to the late Roy and Alberta Moses Costello on April 28, 1941. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, and camping. She liked watching Nascar, the Tennessee Titans, and Vanderbilt. She loved being outside tending to her flowers, working the yard, and bird feeding. Nellie was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her lifelong friend, Randall Sexton.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Steve Ward, Keith Ward (Debbie), the chosen son, Randy Sexton (Jackie), Deborah Sauls (Roger), and Donna Caldwell (Ken); 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandbabies and one on the way; cousin, Terrie Dyer; and a host of close family members and dear friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 2:00PM until 7:00PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home located at 660 Thompson Lane in Nashville. A Celebration of Nellie’s life will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 2:00PM with a gathering of family and friends two hours prior. Nellie will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park following the service with Steve Ward, Keith Ward, Andrew Ward, JR Sauls, Parker Ward, and Josh Gadd serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at www.komen.org or to Amedisys Hospice in Nellie’s honor. The family would like to say thank you to the many caregivers and healthcare providers for the excellent care given to Nellie.
