It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Paul Jezioro, of the Greentown Community in Rivesville, WV—originally of Grant Town, WV—who brought devotion, joy, and wisdom to everyone around him. Paul passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, July 17, 2025, at Woodcrest Rehab Hospital in Nashville, TN, shortly after a visit from his grandson, Jacob. He was 90 years old.
Born January 30, 1935, in Grant Town, WV, Paul was the son of the late Anna Jezioro and was raised by his maternal grandfather, Jacob.
Paul found his greatest joy in gathering with family, where every moment was a celebration of connection and love. He was always a steadfast presence and a source of encouragement to those around him. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he was also a dedicated sportsman, teacher, and community member. He coached numerous youth baseball teams throughout his life, including Babe Ruth and American Legion Post 17, inspiring many young athletes.
Paul was a graduate of Fairview High School. A four-year letterman, he played catcher on the school baseball team and continued playing while stationed at Quantico as well as at Fairmont State College. Following military service, he received his bachelors through the GI Bill and taught mechanical drawing and mathematics at Fairmont Junior High and Farmington High School.
Paul worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle for two years in the early sixties. He then returned with his wife JoAnne and young son Jack to continue teaching in Marion County. Paul worked in the mines for many years at Federal No. 1 in Grant Town and Federal No. 2 on Miracle Run Road. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) locals 4047 and 1570.
After retiring, Paul and his wife moved to Nashville, TN in 2004 to be closer to their son and grandchildren. A gifted storyteller, Paul shared his life experiences with humor, warmth, and purpose. He believed in using stories to inspire and uplift others. His wife, son, and grandchildren were the greatest joys of his life. His stories and hugs will remain with them forever.
