Paul Livingston Patterson, Jr., beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024 at the age of 86. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Born June 26, 1937 to Paul & Lottie Patterson in Clarksville, Tennessee, Paul Patterson lived a life filled with purpose and dedication. He was a man of love, humor, kindness and generosity, known for his business success and love of family.
Paul was a devoted family man above all else. He cherished his role as a leader of his family, finding his greatest joy in spending time with the ones he loved. His wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support were constants in the lives of his family, shaping them into the individuals they are today.
Paul is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Peggy Burnette Patterson, his Daughter, Angela Faulkner (Keith); Daughter, Melanie Heitzman (Tony); Son, Paul "Pat" Patterson, III (Angie); Son, John DeGiacomo (Judy); and Brother, Gilbert Patterson (Anna); along with 9 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and 4 Nephews.
After studying printing technology and graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York, he went on to pursue a successful business career at Baird Ward Printing Company after which he led as head of the printing division and Vice President at FISI/Madison Financial Corporation. Paul’s ultimate entrepreneurial dreams became a reality in 1983 when he embarked upon creating his successful printing company, Patterson Press.
Throughout his life, Paul touched the hearts of many with his generosity and compassion. Whether it was his active involvement with the Tennessee Baptist Childrens’ Home or building Orphanages in Rio De Janero, Brazil, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
In his free time, Paul loved to travel the world and play golf. Maui, Hawaii and Naples, Florida were his two favorite retreats - so much so that after selling Patterson Press and retiring in 2001, he and Peggy built a second home in Naples, Florida and began having the time of their life enjoying retirement!
Whether he was pursuing his favorite pastime or simply enjoying the company of friends and family, he approached life with enthusiasm and a contagious sense of joy.
Paul will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched and the memories he created.
