

Pauline “Polly” Alexander King died January 5, 2013 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN. Mrs. King was born on April 21, 1926 in Huntsville, AL. She worked for the United States Navy during the Second World War and at Clover Bottom Mental Health Hospital in Donelson, TN, but for Polly the focus was always on the love she had for God and her family. She was a devoted member of Andrew Price Methodist Church in Donelson, TN since 1952 and it was there that she taught the Anna Gay Sunday School class for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, F.B. and Beatrice Alexander; her sisters, Louise McCormick and Edith Russell; her husband of 64 years, Alton King; and her daughter Dianne King. She is survived by her brother, F. B. Alexander, Jr., Huntsville, AL (Betty); sons, Dr. Sidney King, Gallatin, TN (Lynn) and Dr. Bill King, Eatonton, GA (Cherry); her grandchildren, Dr. Matt King (Claire), Tim King, Andy King (Elizabeth), Adam King (Jamie), and Katie King; and her great-grandchildren, Mary Payton King, Lowell King, Alfred King, Gracie King, and Alexander King. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday at Hibbett & Hailey on Donelson Pike. The service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday at Andrew Price Memorial United Methodist Church on Lebanon Pike. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include Mrs. King’s four grandsons, Matt, Tim, Andy, and Adam, and Dan Mangum.
