
Sheldon, Pauline (Polly) Cave May 29, 2011. She is preceded in death by her Father Charles Lee Sheldon and Mother Margaret (Maggie) Francis. Surviving are nephews, nieces, and cousins, Charles (Gale) Deal, Jeffrey (Teresa) McCanless, Philip (Sherry) McCanless, Joel Francis, Elaine Francis Gambill, Byron (Diane) Sheldon, John (Pam) Sheldon, Ricky Sheldon, Becky (Ron) Hopper, Mary Stinson, Patsy (Troy) Brooks, as well as other great nephews, nieces, cousins and numerous close friends.
She was a dedicated member of the Eastview Church of Christ. Throughout her life, Polly placed God first, her family and friends second and her own needs last. She loved the church and was active in the Sunday School Program. She had a beautiful love for the children who came to church and worked hard to provide Christmas and birthday presents every year.
Polly graduated from East High in 1942 and began her career working at a brokerage firm where she was offered a promotion after two years of employment. She turned down the promotion to pursue classes at the Nashville Business College. In 1945 she was a substitute teacher and in 1946, began her career with the Nashville City Schools. Polly retired from The Metropolitan School System after 55 years of loyal service as an Executive Assistant in the central office.
Over the years, Polly was awarded Secretary of the Year, was honored by the Nashville Chapter of the International Association of Professional Personnel with a scholarship established in her name, and was honored with many other accolades for her life’s work. She sat on the board of directors for the East High Alumni Association and held numerous positions on various committees. In addition, Polly served on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Credit Union for a number of years.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, June 2 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m.at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN. The interment will take place at Springhill Cemetery on Gallatin Road. Pallbearers will consist of nephews and cousins
