

Born on July 1st, 1950 in Cuxhaven, Germany, Renate immigrated to the United States with her parents in 1951. Throughout her life, she remained proud of her German heritage and considered it a privilege to be an American-German. Renate grew up in historic East Nashville. She attended Hume-Fogg High School, and later continued her education at the University of Tennessee.
Renate worked for many years at Vanderbilt University before finding her true passion and decades-long career in administration at McGavock High School. Affectionately known to the students as “Mrs. Stacy”, Renate was famous for her kindness and compassion for the children of the school – remaining close to many long after their graduation. This deep love for others encompassed all areas of her life, affording her many life-long friendships and helping her to be a source of strength and hope to all those around her. Above all, Renate valued her family. She is survived by her husband, Carl Stasiunas and passed away within hours of celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary. She is additionally survived by her mother – Erna E. Beyer, son – Eric Stasiunas and his wife Karen, and Daughter – Kelly (Stasiunas) Darnell and her husband Patrick, three grandchildren, and her sister – Eva (Beyer) Studwell. She has been preceded in passing by her father, Walter F.H. Beyer, and brother Wolfgang Beyer.
Renate’s funeral will be held on Friday, June 17th - 8:30 A.M. at First Lutheran Church (113 8th Ave S. Nashville), where she was a lifelong member and formerly a proud Sunday School teacher for many years. Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home Thursday, June 16th from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.
