Larry was born March 6th 1947 in the Town of Red Springs, North Carolina. His parents were AC and Libby (Britt) Reynolds. Larry graduated from Red Spring High School and was accepted to University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He studied English and Graduated with an BA in English. Larry loved words and their power. He wrote songs that told stories and performed them at church and clubs all over town.
Larry made his way to Nashville with hopes of being a songwriter. For a period of time he was a staff writer at a local publishing house. He performed at The Exit Inn, the Station Inn and writers' nights at The Bluebird Cafe.
His day job was working for Second Harvest Food Bank. The last position he held there was as Vice President of Food Resources. While at the Food Bank he started The Kidz Cafe program and launched the concert series Stars for Second Harvest. His main accomplishment was developing Project Preserve. Project Preserve enabled the food bank to take donated products and make meals for food bank clients. This program was replicated by other food banks across the United States. By Second Harvest making their own meals, the food bank was able to ensure its clients had a source of nutritious meals.
Larry also served on the Board of Habitat for Humanity. He loved to help people realize their best self whenever possible.
In his leisure time Larry loved working at the family farm in Kentucky. While he was in Kentucky he built a cabin and enjoyed driving his old Ford tractor.
Larry is survived by his wife Joann and his son Ben and a host of friends. Larry's survivors include Tommy Britt and wife Carolyn and their children, also his cousin Beth McPhall and her family in North Carolina.
