Robert Lewis Bates went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 2, 2025. He was born on December 30, 1945, in Nashville, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Clara Irene Allen Bates and Ralph L. Bates.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Angie Bates, two Daughters, Jamie (Jamison) Moorehead and Shay (Stephen) Price, Brother, R. Curtis (Terri) Bates, Grandchildren, Brandon and Tylar Moorehead, and Brady and Kasey Price.
A talented musician, Robert, was a proud member of the Moonlighters Big Band, where he played the saxophone for 42 years. He also dedicated 43 years of service to the Kroger Company, where he formed many lasting friendships. Robert will be remembered for his music, his devotion to family, and his unwavering faith.
Pallbearers serving are Jamie, Brandon, and Tylar Moorehead, Stephen, Brady, and Kasey Price, and Chris Bates.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN. Burial service to follow.
