

Robert Winslow Bolster, a faithful son of Holy Mother Church, passed away suddenly on June 27, 2018. He was predeceased by his parents, Leo Joseph and Katherine Tarkington Bolster, wife, Gray Keeble Bolster, brothers, Leo Joseph Bolster, Jr (Irma) and William Fenn Bolster (Hannah), and grandson Patrick Lawrence McKinnon. He is survived by his wife of almost thirty years, Alice Thomason Bolster, daughters, Martha Bolster Smith Wilkins (Janice), Katherine Bolster McKinnon, (Mel), sons, Robert Winslow Bolster, Jr., Maxson Culley Bolster and Deacon Rhodes Winslow Bolster, grandchildren, Robert Anderson Smith (Julie), Joseph Owen Smith (Logan), Benson McKinnon (Rachel), Noel Gray McKinnon, Morgan Meine (Kevin), Matthew Gray Bolster, and six great-grandchildren.
Born on December 13, 1928, Bob was a native Nashvillian, and attended Cathedral School, Father Ryan High School, Vanderbilt University, and had an advanced degree in banking from Columbia University.
He worked his entire career at Third National Bank, holding a variety of positions. Throughout his working life, he was a volunteer in many community and Catholic organizations, and was a lifelong supporter of Vanderbilt athletics. After his retirement, he spent 25 years as a volunteer at St Thomas Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Sunday July 1st, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Bolster home at 3823 Central Avenue with Prayer Vigil at 7 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. John Sims Baker and other attending clergy on Monday, July 2nd, at 10:00 am at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, 2015 West End Avenue, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.
